Knowing Animals is on a temporary hiatus, and will return in 2024. Knowing Animals is a free podcast featuring interviews with scholars about new research in animal studies. Guests include philosophers, historians, geographers, anthrozoologists, sociologists, literature scholars, and more. New episodes are released every other Monday. He is the author or editor of over a dozen books, as well as the editor of both Literary Veganism: An Online Journal and ASEBL Journal. We talk about his monograph An Ape Ethic and the Question of Personhood, which was published by Lexington Books in 2020.

On this episode, we speak to Dr Margo DeMello. Margo is an Assistant Professor of Anthrozoology at Carroll College in Montana. She is the author or editor of over a dozen books. We discuss her textbook Animals and Society: An Introduction to Human-Animal Studies, from Columbia University Press. The first edition was published in 2012, but an updated second edition was published in 2021.
